Here’s a video when you watch it, you think, “now why didn’t I think of that?”

A couple who created a video on YouTube chronicling the woman’s pregnancy in 2 minutes has gone viral.

It’s a time-lapse video of a pregnant mom as her baby grows inside her womb.

The video which was uploaded just four days ago has already been watched by nearly 500,000 people.

When she’s not hosting the hit lifestyle show CityLine or filling in for Dina Pugliese on Breakfast Television, Tracy Moore is busy chasing after her two children.

Moore has an almost four-year-old son, Sidney, and a one-year-old daughter, Eva Simone, with husband Lionel.  The couple met while both working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

“The one-year-old is waking up at night, getting up at 2:30am and again at 5am and I stare laser beams into my husband’s head,” Tracy jokes when I ask her to describe the craziest part of her day.

“But that period between about 5 and 7pm where my husband is making dinner, I have to give him props for that! … and eating dinner which is the brutal part, getting the kids bathed and then getting them down to bed is probably the most challenging.”

It doesn’t help that her son is a picky eater while her daughter eats everything… so dinnertime proves to be challenging for Tracy and her hubby.

“I’ll turn the radio and we’ll dance around in the kitchen and try to make dinnertime more fun,” Tracy says.  “My husband grew up fairly poor so it’s a good lesson to be learned.  If you don’t eat, you go to bed hungry.”

Tracy has been hosting CityLine on Citytv since October 2008, the longest running and most successful daytime show for women in Canadian history.  Before that, she served as news anchor on Citytv’s  Breakfast Television.

When Tracy started in the industry, she envisioned that she would start out in Toronto and then find an agent in New York and interview with the large networks like NBC, ABC and CNN – which she did.

“I thought I’d join in the US and become a Diane Sawyer and be co-hosting a news magazine. I thought I had it figured out but somewhere along the way, things took a different route,” Tracy says.

“I realized that I am a news junkie but I’m also a huge goof!  I couldn’t put on the reporter voice and didn’t really want to either.  I was stepping out of important parts of my personality and now I’ve embraced who I am and it couldn’t be any more perfect for me.”

It’s ok to be who you are, and everyone needs to be who they are. There is a place for everyone.”

In the years she has been on air, her most memorable guest of all time was Entertainment Tonight’s Steven Cojocaru.

“We took to each other right away and in such a superficial industry, it’s a nice surprise.  It’s not just that he’s going to come on show to tell us that JLO has back hair,” Tracy says.

“What I like about him is the Canadian boy in him.  He gives to his audience, has such a good heart and he talks about his mom and dad.  He’s a good boy, loves his parents.”

When she’s not working or being a mom, Moore loves to read.  She is reading three books at once;  How to Speak Money by Ali Velshi and Christine Romans, The Marriage Plot: A Novel by Jeffrey Eugenides and The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill.

“If I don’t find the time to read, I put myself to sleep earlier than my grandma,” she jokes.  But Tracy also loves to exercise – it’s the only thing that keeps her body and mind in check.

“I’m not as good a person, mother and wife when I don’t exercise. I do it for my body but it’s also an exercise in mental health.”

When does she get to the gym?  If you’re on Twitter, then you know that Tracy wakes up super early to start her day.  And she always seems to have a circle of online friends who will greet her in the morning.

“I know it’ll be the same friends from social media at 5:30 in the morning.  Twitter is a great place to meet people, console people and connect with real people, having tough day as parents, being able to relate to people, twitter has been a way of creating lasting relationships.”

You’ll know that Tracy loves to tweet about The Bachelor, her favourite TV show (tied with Community and then Modern Family).  Why does she love the show so much?

“To me it’s the prefect mix of romance, even though it’s really reality-tv romance.  I love seeing the girl female relationships, because I don’t believe these couples will last,” she says.

“It’s interesting to see the clash of personalities and to see how each personality plays out.”

Canadians will have their own Bachelor show coming soon!  Will you be watching?  I can’t wait to find out who the Bachelor will be!

Watch the Bachelor Monday nights at 8pm and CityLine daily at 9am on Citytv.

Viggo Mortensen probably had the best moment when he won for Best Supporting Actor for David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method.  He showed his true patriot love when he held up a flag for his favourite hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens.

Philippe Falardeau (Monsieur Lazhar) and Viggo Mortensen

Mortensen and Cronenberg walked the red carpet at the 32nd annual Genie Awards, and cracked a few jokes to reporters. “Making a film is like a team sport; we do the best we can with the abilities we have,” Viggo says.

“The good guys that I try to cast turned me down and he was the only one that would do it, and he was cheap,” Cronenberg joked about Mortensen.

Cronenberg has been making successful film after film – what is his secret?

“Consistency and really there is a truth in that, to have a long enough career that you can show what you can do.  Unfortunately there a lot of filmmakers that show a lot of promise and then they disappear.  If there is anything that I would leave a legacy for other Canadians is that you have to slug it out, every year is a struggle.”

After Mortensen won his Genie award for Supporting Actor, he only had good things to say about Cronenberg.

“Cronenberg makes something very difficult look very easy – he’s very rare and when you see his movies a second or third time, you see more.”

“Cronenberg is very meticulous, very rare in this business to have that quality guaranteed.  He definitely is his own filmmaker.  The New Zealand crew on Lord of the Rings I found very similar to the Canadian crew in that they take very seriously what they do.  They take pride in the job they’re doing, but they don’t take themselves too seriously,” Mortensen says.

“I have to say, with all due respect, now that I’ve seen the Genie award show, it’s very relaxed, it doesn’t seem pretentious or tense.  I like working in that way on movie sets, you can talk to anybody, nobody is above anybody.  David inspires that way of working.”

Cronenberg and Mortensen have forged a close bond with Mortensen calling him a good friend. They’ve now worked together on three films – Eastern Promises and A History of Violence and now A Dangerous Method.

Monsieur Lazhar swept 32nd annual Genie Awards, winning six of its nine nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, beating out David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method.

Monsieur Lazhar is about an Algerian immigrant who is hired to replace an elementary school teacher who died tragically.

Sophie Nélisse took home the Genie for Performance by and Actress in a Supporting Role for Monsieur Lazhar, at age of 11!  When asked what her favourite part of making her film, she said “playing with my friends”.

Luc Déry and Kim McCraw produced the film, originally a one-man show turned into a film by director Philippe Falardeau.

“I was touched by the end of the play, I felt like I could do something with this character in a movie. It’s a rich character which is difficult to find,” Falardeau said in the press room following his win.

When asked about the Oscars experience, he says “the carpet is a little longer, it was good general rehearsal for tonight.”

For Dery and McGraw, this is the second year in a row that they have won (last year they also won Best Picture for Incendies), and many Quebec films are being recognized at the Genies.   What does this say about the state of Quebec cinema?

“To all filmmakers out there, be bold, be persistent,  be wild, be a little delinquent and take risks and I think that what we’ve been doing back home.  I think that the films that are winning are worth seeing,” said Falardeau.

“I would like to say to the Canadian public, go see them – not because they are Canadian films but because they are good films.”

MORE RED CARPET PICS

The 32nd annual Genie Awards were held Thursday in Toronto and hosted by the fabulous George Stroumboulopoulos, airing on CBC.

Strombo was a fabulous host, even without Andrea Martin who bailed last minute due to another commitment… I love Andrea Martin, don’t get me wrong, but if she was hosting the Golden Globes, would she bail?  Um I don’t think so!

As always charismatic, Strombo cracked a few funny jokes, to which he later in the press room he thanked his fabulous team of writers.  Jason Priestly also took to the stage to present some presenters? and also presented figure skaters Jamie Salé, David Pelletier and Joannie Rochette as they did an odd interpretive skate…

Only in Canada will you see figure skating as the entertainment during an awards show!  It was quite odd and misplaced unfortunately… hopefully CBC won’t be doing that again.

Viggo Mortensen won for Best Supporting Actor for David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, and when he took to the stage to accept his award, he pulled out an enormous flag for his favourite hockey team, the Canadiens.  How much more of a Canadian supporter can you get?

Adorable Sophie Nélisse won the award for Performance by and Actress in a Supporting Role for Monsieur Lazhar, at age of 11!  When asked what her favourite part of making her film, she said “playing with my friends”.

In fact, Monsieur Lazhar swept The Genie Awards, winning six of its nine nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, beating out David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method.

Luckily there was a little bit of rock representing the Genies; the Sheepdogs rocked the stage during the evening with a performance.

Bobbi Kristina will inherit all of her late mother’s assets, according to Whitney Houston’s will which was published Wednesday.

Houston was found dead on February 11 in a Los Angeles hotel room at the age of 48.  Many suspect Houston died of a cocktail of prescription drugs and alcohol, although official results from her autopsy are not expected for several weeks.

Now that the shock has settled following the death of Whitney Houston, it’s important to look at how people reacted.  Her supporters weeped for her loss; others were apathetic and blamed her drug abuse.

Why did people care so much?

“Whitney was very much the girl next door, America’s sweetheart, and American’s heartache all wrapped into one. People were rooting for her recovery ever since her ‘comeback’ and broadcast interview with Oprah where she revealed she was sober and was on the road to recovery.  I think many addicts and or people who have ever struggled with addiction and abuse also related to her on a very close and personal level,” says Dawn Christie, Holistic healer and celebrity interventionist.

Celebrities live every moment in the public eye and to intense scrutiny.  Imagine the entire world watching your life unfold on television or in the tabloids.  Being in the public eye comes with many benefits obviously, however it opens to door to criticism and judgment.  Add a battle with addiction to the mix and it becomes even more difficult.

Many of Christie’s clients who are celebrities experience similar levels of scrutiny and negativity.  There is also a very strong stigma on addicts in society and they are often judged unfairly.

“When we see famous people with addiction problems, we have a tendency to turn their struggles and failures into our entertainment and we fail to remember that these are real people, with real feelings and real demons. They need privacy and they need support just like anyone else,” says Christie.

Some of the comments and discussions surrounding Houston’s death were very cruel and apathetic.  Why did many turn on Houston after hearing of her death?

“In Whitney’s case, many people (herself included) felt her voice was gift from God. Abusing drugs and putting herself through such debilitating circumstances, in some people’s eyes was the equivalent to throwing a gift from God down the drain. Many people interpreted her actions as reckless and negligent. Some might even resent her for ‘squandering’ a gift so few people are blessed to ever have.”

“This happens a lot with celebrities who battle addiction in the public eye. Not only are they struggling with their inner-turmoil, but they also have to absorb all the misplaced judgments, negativity and criticism of the public. Too often than not, the pressure weighs very heavily and can actually make the addictive behaviors worse.”

The problem is magnified when critics slam an addict’s behaviour and actions.

“Critics fail to realize that they themselves, the media and the fans all have the power to help and heal artists like Whitney Houston who are in trouble through love and understanding, not criticism and glorifying their/her disease of being an addict.  They need to speak up and shine light on the problem when they see a celebrity in trouble and not just poke fun at them.”

“Look at Anna Nicole Smith, Amy Winehouse, Brittney Murphy and now Whitney Houston.  Society criticized and made fun of these women being too skinny, being on drugs and binge drinking but never stepped up and said we love you as artists and don’t want to lose you so clean up your act.

Christie works with people to help them understand their mission, and help them realize who they are and the importance of why they are born.

“If these celebrities with tragic endings were spiritually connected and truly understood the importance of the gift they were given, then they would never infect their bodies, souls and minds with drugs.”

I stand in front of the television which is blasting the breaking news. Teachers in British Columbia will be striking for three days as the Labor Relations Board told them they could, just after two school days’ notice.

In an instant my eyes tear up and yet I feel numb at the same time. The public school system and the players have failed the kids.

Since last June, teachers have been without a contract. When school began in September, they withdrew service like report cards and facilitating parent/teacher interviews.  My five-year-old’s report card only had her attendance record.  No parent/teacher interviews have or will be conducted. Sadly, some teachers have taken that to the T and other teachers are still having an open door.

At the end of the day, both sides are handling this poorly.  I know some who have agreed with me and not depending on their personal experiences. I do support that teachers are overwhelmed with crowded classrooms which is one issue they have had on the table. The issue of cuts to special education funding not only hurts kids with needs but also other kids who need little extra help but do not have a label. Some of those cuts are to also a special education assistant to help the teacher with the kids with special needs.

Only until today has the union pulled back their focus to receiver a 15% wage increase over three years. There is a zero net wage increase imposed on all through the public sector. That is tough. On one hand many households have not seen a wage increase in sometime. However, teachers do spend a lot of extra time and most are not paid as some believe.

bc teacher strike, teacher strike in british columbia

I have spoken on the radio and been interviewed in the local newspapers on my beliefs and feelings on this strike. The biggest opinion of mine that caused a stir was that I wish teachers had performance reviews like most corporations; rock star teachers get paid what they are worth and those who do not maintain a standard do not get paid the same.   Many parents who have not had a wage increase in their own professions have a hard time understanding the teachers’ demands on that topic.

One side had to budge and the teachers followed through with their threat to strike. Now the government is voting on to whether or not to legislate the teachers back to work. That really boils me. Legislating back to work is another form of bullying. That will show kids that their classrooms are just a number and not a voice.

“Mom, let’s go!”   My five-year-old is standing in front of me. I snap out of my reverie and get her ready for school while they are still in school. I cannot help but wonder if both sides will come together and remember why they are really at a dispute-my kids and yours.

No more GTL and partying ways for this Guidette!

It has been confirmed – brace yourselves – Jersey Shore’s Snooki is preggers.

Nicole Polizzi is 15 weeks pregnant and engaged to Jionni LaValle!

Snooks confirms the scary lovely news exclusively in the new Us Weekly.

“I have different priorities now,” wild girl turned soon to be mama says. “I don’t care what anybody else thinks. As long as I know I’m ready and he’s ready.”

LaValle’s quote already is making me scared: “We are not going to screw this up.”

What will they name their baby?

Snooki told PEOPLE last year that she loves the names Gia and Isabella if it’s a girl.  She also likes Giana, which she told GQ in November.

If it’s a boy?  Tony, Frankie and maybe even Jionni Jr.  Awww, a little guido to the famiglia?

So I guess Mike the Situation’s schemes to break up the couple in this season’s Jersey Shore backfired – this couple seems to be here to stay.

O, Woe is Me!

The Bachelor Women Tell All was an entertaining, hilarious social experiment of what happens when a bunch of women get together and fight over one guy.

This season of The Bachelor has left me scratching my head:   #1 why Ben?  #2 What’s up with Ben’s hair? And #3 Oh girls, really?!?

Ben Flajnik’s hair could have its own show;  it really isn’t a fabulous look for him anymore.  Maybe back in 1993. In Europe. But he seriously needs a hair makeover.

My friend Rita made me laugh when she posted this photo on Facebook:

Inspiration for Ben’s hairstyle?

Ok back to the show!

Yes I watch The Bachelor because it is mindless entertainment.  If these girls choose to go on the show and date for all to see, I say watch and enjoy!  For those of you who say it’s a waste of time to watch, I am a multi-tasker so I do write and tweet at the same time, ok?

After watching the Women Tell All, one thing’s for sure – girls can be mean.  And I mean that both ways – the girls against Courtney and vice versa.  Not to say that Courtney didn’t have it coming to her.

Courtney made the show exciting but she offended almost everyone in the entire house with her snarky comments.  Finally, the other women had their say and went on the attack, demanding an apology from Courtney who ended up crying as she exited the stage.

My Facebook friend Sonya brought up a good point; no one mentioned Courtney’s behaviour might have something to do with her insecurities.  When someone lashes out like that, it is to make themselves feel better.  Perhaps Courtney was bitchy towards them because she felt threatened by them; a pretty simple explanation for her behaviour.

People were also mentioning her “dual personalities” on the show; well maybe Courtney is bipolar… you never really know.  I think the Bachelor needs a psychologist on hand to talk about the women’s behaviour on the show.

Ben also faced the women, which was quite dull and boring, as the rest of the season… But when they aired some random moments, it was just what the show needed – a break from all the “woe is me” drama.

Emily put it best; she said she wouldn’t want to be with a guy who would use the words “tread lightly”.  Yeah that’s an asshat for ya.

There is a spoiler going around about who Ben will ultimately choose but I don’t want to reveal it here… I think Courtney slipped up at the end of the video (below) when she said “I cared for Ben… and I still do.”

Who do you think he will choose, Courtney or Lindzi?

My kids had an opportunity to try out this new website for tweens called BunkiMunki™ – and they both love it.

BunkiMunki.com is a website geared towards tweens (ages 7-15).   Kids can join this social site for tweens for free and immediately have fun by customizing their own alias in the likeness of BunkiMunki™, the brand character.  With their virtual avatar, they can then can create their own virtual hangout and design their own rooms to reflect their individual personality and style.

My kids had so much fun creating their “alias” – of course, my 5-year-old wanted to participate in my 7-year-old’s review, so they both created an alias that they both liked.

There are also BunkiMunki™ keys which are wearable accessories available in a variety of designs.  Kids  will enjoy collecting them and feel connected to other BunkiMunki™ members as they “Unlock the Power of Happiness™”.   My kids are already fighting over their key necklace so it looks like we’ll have to get another one!

bunki munki, bunkimunki.com

On BunkiMunki.com, kids can enjoy fun activities like journal writing, music creation, earning badges, and playing games.  They will be rewarded with Bunki Bucks, a virtual currency they earn by participating in various activities that can be spent at The Emporium, a virtual store where they can buy “furniture” for their cool rooms or accessories for their “alias”.  My kids already have designed their cool room – now they need to decorate it!

My kids love the games on the site under Munki’N Around;  they are thinking games – matching colours, shapes and patters.  One game I myself enjoyed is called Gems Swap.

bunkimunki, tween games, website for tweens

Kids can create their own songs using sounds online and play it back in Music Mixer, and also write in their own personal journal.  Kids can earn badges like the Creativity Badge or the Friendship Badge by preforming a task and then uploading them to the site.  Badge Central is directly linked to the Wall Of Wonderful, a place where members may display their badges. The Wall Of Wonderful (WOW) is designed to celebrate the individual achievements of each child.

The website offers a Premium Membership which gives kids unlimited access to all social media features including B-Mail, Chat and Friends.   Kids can meet new friends in the Bunki community and then get emails from them and eventually chat with them.  These features are in a safe social networking environment for tweens that may be too young for Facebook, but still want a place to socialize and play online.

The site has privacy features such as a strict “no real/full names” policy and a language filter (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act compliant and is certified by Privo, an FTC-approved, neutral third-party service provider whose core business is to enable companies to initiate and manage responsible and effective online relationships by adhering to best practices when dealing with communities that attract kids to their websites.

Along with the social network, a line of BunkiMunki™ products will be hitting specialty stores across the U.S. and Canada. All products come with a Bonus Code redeemable for virtual currency at BunkiMunki.com.

My kids really are enjoying BunkiMunki™ – the key, the games and creating their rooms and avatars. I’m certain as they explore, they will really enjoy the social networking features.  I think it’s a great new website for tweens and a safe social site for big kids.
