It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Back to school… moms will be doing the happy dance in just a few days!

I probably enjoy back-to-school shopping much more than my kids do (insert evil laugh). And with fabulous products like these, both kids and mom and dad can get super organized.

The lovely folks over at Hilroy Canada sent me some fabulous school supplies from ACCO Brands Canada to help get me organized for back to school. Not only have they created fun supplies to help my kids get organized, they’ve come up with some super cool ideas for mom too.

I particularly love the Mead Organizher line of products, sold exclusively in Target Canada stores, like the Loyalty Card Organizer (for all of my shopping/rewards cards), Password Keeper (because I can never keep track of all of them) and the Expense Tracker (bills, bills and more bills). I also am a big fan of Motherworld Family Fridge calendars; I keep mine on the side of my fridge where everyone can see it and easy for everyone to write on. Plus it’s super-sized!

The kids will like the Zwipes Zipper Binders (available at Walmart, Target and Staples) and the Five Star Binders (available at Walmart) – they are extra padded and have interior pockets for extra storage.

Back to School Essentials: Simple Back to School List!

It’s back-to-school time!

While some moms are celebrating and some kids are crying about the end of summer, a back to school list is inevitable! If you’re like me, you’re wondering what my kids need for back to school? Really need? Having a back to school supply list makes it easier when shopping.

Here are the best back-to-school items:

School supplies

Ah yes, shopping for school supplies like binders, pencil cases and notebooks are always fun. Hilroy supplies are my favourite – they’re colourful and cool. They are always my back to school essentials!

Locker Accessories

For the older kids, locker accessories are a must – and not just a mirror! Love The Kit by Dudley. Available at Staples.

Lunch Box

There are so many options for lunch boxes out there, especially since many school are litter-less. This Original Goodbyn™ Lunchbox in Green Apple is adorable. Fenigo.com. $29.97.

Running shoes (indoor and outdoor):

Kids will need a clean pair of indoor shoes; velcro will come in handy for younger kids while older kids can enjoy runners like these cool and comfortable Reebok RealFlex and ZigTech footwear, which are lighter and sleeker offering great cushioning. Labels

You don’t want your child to lose their stuff so label them! Mabel’s Labels have always been my favourite and now they are selling these fabulous Write Away labels that come in handy

Backback

A good sturdy backpack with plenty of space is essential for your kids. The licensed/character backpacks are cute when kids are really young but they don’t seem to last very long. These backpacks from Roots and Dudley are sure to last!

Water bottle

There are so many water bottles to choose from – stainless steel, personalized – but I prefer a BPA-free plastic bottle with a label on it. I like the Nalgene Tritan Grip‑n‑Gulp Water Bottle. Available at Mountain Equipment Co-op. $7.75.

Keeping Kids Healthy

With a healthy diet, kids can have the energy to perform and focus on their school day. I like Iron Kids Gummies to ensure my kids are getting their daily vitamin intake. Available at Superstore, Walmart, Sobeys and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Oral health is also important which is why the Oral B Professional Care Rechargeable Toothbrush SmartSeries 5000 is wonderful. The SmartGuide is perfect for kids – it tells them how to brush their teeth and for how long on each side.

For Your Tween/Teen

Back To School Time! Hilroy School Supplies Review & Giveaway

It’s back to school time! One of the best things about mid-late August is shopping for back to school stuff! Clothing, shoes and school supplies!

Backpacks, pencil cases and notebooks – I missed those days after I finished university and starting working full-time but now get to enjoy those years now that my own kids are in school.

Hilroy has made it easier for me this year – they sent me some awesome products to review (and give away too!)

My favourite has to be the Customizable Fashion Line. Products are in black and white and come with four coloured fabric markers so you can customize the design of your back pack, zipper binder and pencil case however you desire. My boys were pretty excited to start colouring in their supplies!

As a busy mom, I need all the help I can get when it comes to organizing. Although I use Outlook on my computer to keep my appointments organized, I need to visually see the reminders in front of my face constantly. A white board just won’t do it, and neither can a regular wall calendar.

But the oversized Mom’s Ultimate Family Fridge Calendar is the best thing invented in calendars. It’s large in size and comes with magnets that you can stick on the back of it and put it on your fridge. There’s good space for writing appointments and notes and it comes with cute stickers to remind you of specific appointments like doctor visits and sports days at school.

The calendar on my phone is just not enough for me when I’m on the road. I like to flip through my book and see it all in front of me. So the Day Runner and Day Minder come in handy. I also like the Five-Star 7-pocket expanding file which I can bring with me wherever I go. Having somewhere to keep my bills, receipts and other important papers that I need to keep nearby for short-term use – not scattered all over the kitchen table – keeps me organized and on top of things.

You can never have enough binders and notebooks! I think I have a dozen notebooks scattered around the house for various purposes. The Recyclable Fashion and Shape It Up lines are just so adorable, your daughter (or you!) will love the designs and colours.
