Psycho (1960 Horror/Thriller, Rated 14A)

Another classic, Hitchcock is always a must when one embarks on a scary cinema journey. Haunted images and a story you won’t soon forget makes this a great choice for your Halloween viewing pleasure.

Buried (2010 Mystery/Thriller, Rated R)

A man is buried alive and doesn’t know why. Why is this on my Halloween list? Because it’s one of the best suspense/thriller movies I have ever seen. You’ll be surprised into horror how intense a movie about a man in a box can be. Trust me, you won’t jump but you’ll squirm and your heart rate will be affected.

I Saw the Devil (2010 Drama/Horror, Rated R)

Korean horror is my favourite and they know the art of a solid revenge movie. This is one of my favourites and holds some, how should I say, gruesome scenes. The story is what makes it appealing at first but when things really start moving you see how disturbing the tale can become.

The Crow (1994 Fantasy/Thriller, Rated R)

Commonly left out of Halloween lists, even though the movie takes place during Devils Night, this is an ultimate personal favourite and a great movie. It’s not really gory or overly scary but it’s memorable and definitely suitable as a choice for a scary movie night.

The Sixth Sense (1999 Mystery/Thriller, Rated PG-13)

The ghost story of all ghost stories, it has Bruce Willis in it, so it’s perfection. If the ghosts don’t scare you then the slight creepiness of the kid may push you over the edge and force you to hold the blanket closer to your eyes. I won’t spoil the ending for you.

Not a huge horror fan, but Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby scared the Bejesus out of me!
