Surprise surprise!  The paternity lawsuit against Justin Bieber has been dropped.

Mariah Yeater, 20, alleged that the Canadian pop star was the father of her child. TMZ reported that after a call from Beiber’s laywer, Howard Weitzman, threatening legal action,  her lawyers reportedly withdrew from the case.

“As we’ve said from the beginning, it’s sad that someone would fabricate such a malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claim. We’ll continue to consider all of our options to protect Justin,” Bieber’s rep said.

A court date had been set for December 15th.  Bieber, 17, was even prepared to take a paternity test to prove he didn’t father Yeater’s three-month-old baby.

Poor Biebs!  He threw out the so-called rumours right away, tweeted out he knew he would be a target, “but I’m never going to be a victim.”

The crazed fan is apparently trying to pursue her claim out of court.  The strangest part of all of this – if this had really happened, she would have been charged with statutory rape as Biebs was only 16 at the time of the alleged incident.

Bieber’s girlfriend, Selena Gomez, told Ellen DeGeneres it’s been tough for the couple since the crazy rumors began.

“What a crazy last two weeks it’s been in the news,” Ellen said to Gomez, 19, in an interview on her talk show.  “To say the least,” Gomez replied, saying it’s “not easy” dealing with the rumours but she and Bieber have been dealing with it all.
