Moneyball (Biography/Drama)
Starring: Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman
Director: Bennett Miller
The first thing I wanted to do after watching this movie was go to a baseball game. It’s that inspiring and powerful. Jonah Hill shocked me with his perfomance and Pitt brings his skills for the lead. This film is heartfelt, fast paced and one of the best stories of the year. See it. even if you don’t like baseball.
Muppets (Comedy/Family)
Starring: Amy Adams, Jason Segel and Chris Cooper
Director: James Bobin
This. Movie. Changed. Me. I know that sounds dramatic but I actually think, besides Harry Potter, that this was my favourite movie from this entire list. It is HILARIOUS! I mean it. The best comedy I have seen in years. It’s witty, passionate and just down right fun. The Muppets are back, baby!
Puss in Boots (Adventure/Comedy)
Starring: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and Zach Galifianakis
Director: Chris Miller
This is easily my favourite animated film from 2011. It’s fast paced, hilarious beyond your expectations and filled with action and adventure. I love this film and I don’t even like Shrek. Can’t wait to watch it again!
The Tree of Life (Drama)
Starring: Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain
Director: Terrence Malick
This movie had so much hype. It came out and everyone was talking about it and then it went away. I hummed over putting it on my best list but I must admit that there is something about this film that amazes me. It hit me emotionally yet the story didn’t affect me like I had hoped yet it was still a great film and should be watched.
Warrior (Drama/Action/Sport)
Starring: Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte and Joel Edgerton
Director: Gavin O’Connor
In the after math of The Fighter it’s hard to image a better fighting film. Film goers, meet Warrior. This movie had the drama, the action, the fights and the amazing performances. To sum up, everything any one could want in a film (I personally like it better than The Fighter). I was blown away and I think you will be too.
