Dyson Ball Animal 2 Picks Up Dirt Like No Other Vacuum

There are some household items that you can’t skimp on… like a good vacuum. When your vacuum doesn’t pick up dirt the way it should, you know it’s time for a change. But many people make the mistake of buying inexpensive vacuums that end up breaking down after just a few months. Count the number of vacuums that you may have purchased over the course of a few years and you’ve spent much more money than you ever imagined!

Investing in a good vacuum is a sensible idea. You’ll need a better vacuum with features like HEPA filters to block dust and dander from the air in your home. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum cleaner has the best section to pull all the dirt and dust off floors and upholstery. I was given one to try and review. Here are my thoughts:

Dyson Ball Animal 2 Vacuum

User-friendly

The vacuum is easy to assemble and use. I unpacked the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and put it together. Within a few minutes, I was ready to vacuum.

I plugged it in, and hit the carpet with it first. I could feel a bit of resistance when I started on the carpet, and couldn’t believe the suction that came out of the wand! I only did a small patch and was amazed by the amount of dirt and dust it already picked up.  The Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum pulled dust out of my carpet that I didn’t even know was there!

The ball is helps the vacuum swivel easily, which makes it simple to get around things without breaking your back.

Everything on the vacuum uses the same button release. The hose from the instant-release wand is long and flexible, and can reach high and small spaces. You can easily switch from vacuuming the carpet to detaching the long wand and cleaning the corners and ceilings, to cleaning the hardwood and tile floors.

Attachments

There are several attachments and they are easy to hook them up;  the Tangle Free Turbine tool to thoroughly clean your couches and other upholstery, the Combination tool to help you reach up into the rafters and grab those cobwebs, and the articulating hard floor tool for all of your hard floors; and the Stair tool to clean your stairs.  If you have a pet, you’ll love the Dyson Groom tool which looks like a cat brush and it attaches to the long wand.

Cleaning

The Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum is easy to clean; all you have to do is pop off the bin, push down on a button, and you can easily empty dirt into the garbage. Once every month to two months, just remove and wash the bin and filter in cold water, allow to air dry, and pop back in.

Warranty

The Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum has a 5 year warranty for parts and labour including service and parts (free shipping too), and support from Dyson Experts. For the price, you have 5 years guarantee that if a problem does arise, you’re covered. Now that’s a smart investment!

Why Your Home Needs a Dyson Humidifier

Fall is here, which means that winter is just around the corner! Soon, we’ll be turning on the furnace, which creates dry air. I suffer from dry skin and eczema due to the cold, winter months, and a dry home doesn’t help.

We also find our home is dry during cold season, and no matter whether we use a humidifier with our furnace system, our bedrooms are still dry. We usually wake up with stuffy noses from the dry air, and sinus-related issues. The change in seasons also marks the start of cold and flu season, and if you are an allergy sufferer, you feel worse.

So when Dyson asked my family to test the Dyson Humidifier, I jumped at the chance.

Some humidifiers actually create bacteria because of the water, and then spread it around your home, causing illness.  Dyson has created a humidifier that stops the breeding of bacteria before it can spread.

Dyson Humidifier kills 99 per cent of bacteria with its Air Multiplier™ and its patented ultraviolet cleansing technology. The water in the tank is exposed to an ultraviolet light that destroys almost all of the bacteria that lurks there.

Assembling the Dyson Humidifier was easy. Once assembled, the Dyson Humidifier was really easy to use. The remote control is user-friendly, and the settings are simple. You can choose whether or not you’d like the machine to emit mist, or no mist at all. There is also an auto timer, which is helpful during the night – in increments of 15 minutes, and then every hour. But if you forget to use the timer, the unit will automatically shut down after 18-hours of continuous use.

Also, the humidifier wasn’t loud during the night. I’ve kept the humidifier running on low, at a 1 or 2 when the kids are sleeping. At a higher setting if used during the day, it does run louder but not excessively.

Dyson’s Intelligent Climate Control allows us to control the feel of the room this machine was operating in. The unit is great at measuring temperature and humidity, and accurately controlling the climate.

Since this humidifier can also be used as a fan, it would be great to use during the summer months because our second level tends to be warmer than the first.

Air Multiplier™ technology also allows for the air it created to be dispersed evenly around a room. You’ll feel it more in a smaller space such as a bedroom, but you can also notice a difference in a larger area like a family room.

If you suffer from dry air, sinus issues, dry skin and/or eczema, and allergies, or are prone to  catching the cold or flu, the Dyson Humidifier would be a wonderful addition to your home.

Dyson Cinetic DC78 Review

Are you one of those people who find vacuuming relaxing? The back and forth motion, the humming of the vacuum and the sense of accomplishment once you finish cleaning?

Yeah me neither!

Alas household chores must be done and the easier and quicker methods to get the job done are important to this slacker. When I had the opportunity to test out a Dyson Cinetic DC78, I was intrigued.

I had heard so much about Dyson technology and I must admit, Dyson’s television commercials caught my attention. We have central vac in our house so I was curious to see how the Dyson would compare.

Setting up the Dyson DC78  was easy and ready to use in three easy steps. Click in the bottom part of the hose to the unit; attach the arm and then attach the brush/cleaner head. It’s simple to use as well – one button to power on and off, and one to coil up the plug.

Dyson Cinectic DC78 review

The cord is long enough to pull the vacuum along without being a nuisance. It’s also easy to manoeuvre the vacuum back and forth and around corners – it swivels nicely. With Dyson’s Ball™ technology it turns on the spot with no awkward moves. The detachable handle makes it easy to attach tools directly to the wand. Whether you reach high, low, underneath furniture, you can easily clean those hard-to-reach areas.

Let’s talk about the suction. The Dyson Cinetic™ DC78 has cyclone technology – 54 ultra-efficient cyclones with oscillating tips extract microscopic particles. Because of their efficiency, there is no filter that needs washing or replacing and there is no loss of suction. And suction there is!

The suction with the Dyson was comparably stronger than my central vacuum. I vacuumed the carpet in my family room with the central vacuum; then I used the Dyson. The Dyson still picked up dirt that the central vac had left behind! I was shocked by the amount of hidden dust and dirt off the carpet – very impressive!

This shouldn’t come as a surprise though since Dyson invented vacuum cyclone technology more than 20 years ago. Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone™ technology captures allergens and expels cleaner air and is approved by the Asthma society of Canada.

The DC78 comes with a several cleaning tools – Tangle-free Turbine tool, Articulating hard floor tool, Groom tool and a Stiff bristle brush. The carbon fibre brushes clean hard floors and the nylon brushes remove ground-in dirt from carpets. Dyson’s most advanced cleaner head technology ensures high dirt pick-up across all floors and areas.

It’s also sturdy – made from ABS polycarbonate, the same material used in crash helmets so it will survive those bangs into the corners!

Other machines are still designed to need replacement bags and filters. Over 5 years the cost of these items can add up, not to mention the hassle of having to shop for the right bags and filters and then change them. Dyson vacuums are bagless and have permanent filters – so there are no extra costs. Once the clear bin is filled, you simply empty it by pushing the button and releasing the dirt.

Dyson Cinetic D78 review

The Dyson Cinetic DC78 is priced at $699.99 which may seem like a large investment but this vacuum seems to be worth the cost. It also comes with a 5 year warranty (parts and labour). You can purchase directly from DysonCanada.ca  or from retailers across Canada.
