Goals and wishes – we all have them. But how many of you are actually accomplishing those goals? Your goal could be as grand as travelling the world or writing a book, or as simple as eating healthy or going to the gym. No matter what your goal is, it’s important to you – and that means you need to follow through.
We often become distracted and bogged down by the day-to-day, and what we truly want is tossed to the curb. We make excuses when we think about setting an important goal – my biggest one is, “there isn’t enough time.” Other excuses we tell ourselves often – “it’s too difficult,” “I’m scared” or simply, “I can’t.”
That’s when we have to search within ourselves for inner strength, and push through our own insecurities and fears. Imagine the possibilities when you throw caution to the wind, ditch the nagging fears that have bound you for so long, and step outside your comfort zone. It’s not a pleasant feeling before you take that leap of faith – but once you begin, you’ll never look back.
Motrin Canada is launching a #MakeItHappenMonday program to turn women’s wishes into I will’s – and what better day than a Monday to do it. Mondays are like a new beginning – they set the tone for the rest of the week. Set a goal for yourself every Monday and see what happens!
What is my #MakeItHappenMonday challenge?
Growing up, my parents spoke to us in Greek only, and I also went to Greek school . But since my Italian husband and I were born in Canada, our main language is English and we don’t speak Greek or Italian at home. My challenge is to help teach my children Greek while we are on vacation in Greece. Should be a breeze, no? Well, Greek isn’t an easy language to learn! But I’m going to try my very best.
I’m taking part in #MakeItHappenMonday because challenging myself is the best way to ensure that I will follow through with my goal. Making a commitment out loud will keep me accountable – and now I’m asking you to do the same.
What do YOU want to accomplish this week? Whether it be cooking a new meal, trying hot yoga, or even taking time for yourself, if you don’t ever make a goal out loud, it will never come to life. Join the movement and turn every wish into a, I WILL.
What will be your challenge this week? Share it with me here, on your own social media with the hashtag #MakeItHappenMonday – I’d love to know!

How inspiring! I love this. Monday should be a goal day and I need to start treating it as such. Wonderful post!
Thanks! Hope you decide to set a goal on Monday and share it with us!
I love Mondays. I am probably the only one, but I get so much done on a Monday when everyone goes back to work and school!
Me too! I love waking up Monday mornings with coffee in hand, ready to map out my week.
I have that same challenge with my daughter. I want her to learn Spanish growing up like I did.
Wonderful! Do you find you forget to speak the language at home? I have to remind myself to respond in Greek. You have to make the effort, I find.
Love that you have a family of languages in your home. Hope your kids get to learn them because it is such a special thing.
Thanks, I hope so too! I hope it’s not too late for them to pick up the languages. I know the ideal time for them to learn a second language is when they are really young.
Glad I stumbled upon this article, because I have been looking into ways to not be so exhausted on Mondays. Mondays are sort of like spring; a renewal and new beginning and I want to treat it as such rather than hating that it’s here!
By setting goals these negative thoughts about Mondays can go away. With that said, I think your goal is great. I wish my dad spoke Italian in the house growing up, as I would have been able to learn it much faster. You’ve made a good decision. Thanks for sharing.
I used to dislike Mondays when I wasn’t happy with my job. Now that I work for myself, I look forward to setting new goals and plans early Monday mornings – sets the tone for the entire week.
See, now I’m worried about what you’re saying – that you wish your dad spoke Italian. I feel like we should have spoken to our kids more Greek and Italian at an early age. We didn’t make a huge effort – now I wish we had. But it isn’t too late.
Thanks for visiting!
I think teaching them Greek is an awesome idea. I really like the idea of challenging yourself each Monday.
Thanks! I’d love them to keep learning the language. Eventually they can learn Italian too – would be easier.
I like the idea of Make it Happen Monday. I always like setting goals for myself.
Such a great inspiring. I love this monday and monday was a busy day for me i have so much done and my hubby was back to work
I would always want to learn a new language! I guess I could focus on that if I can’t focus on going to the gym regularly.
You could even learn how to speak a different language with an online program! I was thinking of learning Italian this way – while I understand a lot of the language when my husband and his family speak it, I’d love to be able to say more than a few words.
No goals for this week except maybe to just get through it without losing my mind or my patience! okay-my goal for this week is to keep my patience level under control!
Ahh that’s a challenge for me ALL the time! My husband’s grandmother would tell us to count to 10 in our heads before reacting to a stressful situation. It does work!
Super inspirational. Mondays can be hard, but also great! Its what you make of it!
While it’s already Tuesday I feel like I can totally still do this. Thanks for sharing, very motivating and what I needed to remind me to be intentional.
My kids go to French school so that they can speak French like their Father — there is something special in mastering another language. So good for job prospects, travel and culture in general!
Awesome! French is definitely helpful, and such a beautiful language to learn. Once you know French, it’s easy to learn Spanish and Italian too.
Weekly goals are a must in my book! It helps shorten the path for my long-term goals as well. Keep this up and it will surely help you in the future. It’s also perfect for keeping us on track.
Weekly goals are less daunting – small steps lead to bigger things!
Great tips! I find I’m more productive by setting goals for myself.
Weekly goals, I have them too. But most of the time, things falls apart at midweek. Yeah, I kinda suck with this but I am getting better, I think.
I have been wanting to learn French lately. It’s my ultimate goal to take lessons by the end of the year.
I love the #makeithappenmonday idea. I am working on growing a virtual book promotions site so my Monday goals are centered around that.
wow, this is very interesting! I would love my daughter to learn a few languages. Laundry would be my #makeithappenmonday….lol!
How fun to set a goal a week. That’s 52 weeks of goals accomplished at the end of the year. I like it. 🙂
Right? Mini goals for the week seem less daunting than one big goal at the beginning of the year. Thanks for visiting!
I need to remind myself of this every week. It would certainly help me get organized!
I’d love to learn Italian. I hope your children pick them both up. Goal setting Monday is a great idea!
Hehehehe I usualLy like Mondays! I know… Such a weirdo…. But Monday’s always get me pumped for new goals! Love them!
This is a brilliant idea and makes the goal achievable since it’s short-term. I’ll do this!
