Winter is here. Instead of looking outside for adventure, people are looking indoors for some serious cuddle time on the couch. Don’t like to cuddle and prefer a bowl of popcorn and fuzzy socks instead? No worries! I’ve got just the thing for both.
These involve love and romance but are far from chick flick status in my books. So grab that extra warm blanket and your favourite movie buddy and get ready to get cozy with these fantastic films – my five best movies to cuddle with someone:
1. When Harry Met Sally
Guys pretend to not like this movie and fail. Girls may downplay how much they love it but also do a poor job. This is quite possible THE romance movie of all times. It’s funny, charming, interesting, realistic and (above all else) original. Just accept it – everyone loves this movie. Pecan pie, anyone?
2. Garden State
Cute, hilarious, heartbreaking and refreshingly original; this movie deserves all the hype and love it gets. Perfect balance between drama, comedy and romance and Natalie Portman is beyond amazing. I feel like this is an all around good choice for a cozy night on the couch– even for picky film-goers.
3. 500 Days of Summer
This movie makes its way onto a lot of my movie lists. Why? If you have seen you, you know why. If you haven’t, watch it so that you understand. Joseph Gordon-Levitt at his finest and with a script that is both realistic and a little bit dark (for a romance)…but with a happy ending. Who doesn’t love a dance scene?
4. Away We Go
Another surprise movie with a new take on the difficulties of starting a family. Be prepared for this movies many mood swings and you will be rewarded with great performances, a great script and an even better soundtrack. I hear the couch calling me now!
5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Another personal, all time favourite. This movie ties my chest in a knot every time I watch it. It’s all worth it for an ending that will melt even the hardest of hearts. Emotional impact is at an all time high but so are Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey’s performances. The script is genius by all movie genre standards and once again, original.
There we have it. Start with one or two of these and then add in your own favourites if your spot on the couch is calling your name. Cuddle up close to steal the warmth of your partner or that delicious bowl of popcorn and enjoy!
