Love and romance… there are so many stunning destinations in the world to discover with your loved one. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, on this Travel Tuesday I’m sharing my choices for the top 10 romantic destinations in the world.
Top 10 Romantic Destinations in the World
One of the most photogenic islands in the world is Santorini, a lover’s paradise. Surrounded by the bluest of seas, the island is ridiculously beautiful with whitewashed villages that tumble sound the steep hillsides. Enjoy gorgeous views of the volcano and breathtaking sunsets, which paint the buildings and churches in a golden pink tone. It’s my personal favourite place on earth.
Hawaii is a beautiful destination with so many opportunities to experience romance, no matter what that means to you,” said Debbie Isom, a Travel Leaders travel agent in Bloomington, Indiana. “This tropical location, accessible without the need of a passport, is a wonderful getaway for those who appreciate ecotourism and natural beauty. A particular romantic spot is the Na Pali coast – one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world.”
Between the old-world charm, quaint canals and open-air cafés, Venice is widely popular for lovers. But the Amalfi Coast inspires dreams like few other travel destinations in the world. The landscape is captivating and the warmth of the locals unforgettable. It’s easy to leave a piece of your heart behind after visiting this remarkable stretch of coastline in southern Italy.
If the idea of spending the day in a hammock at an over-water villa, while a butler brings you a cocktail sounds heavenly, then the Maldives might just be the romantic destination for you. Resorts in the Maldives out-do offer the most romantic experiences than you could ever imagine. The only difficult choice you’ll have is choosing over a candlelit dinner for two on your own private sandbank, or dining in the middle of the ocean accessible only by boat.
“If you want an intimate setting for just you and your sweetheart, a sparkling champagne toast and a candlelight dinner for two under the stars on a white, soft sandy beach in Costa Rica, with a gentle breeze will create a wonderful memory,” said Jaime Buss, Travel Leaders, Woodbury, Minnesota.
Quebec City, Canada
If you’re seeking a European feel without crossing the Atlantic ocean, then your best bet for a romantic escape is Quebec City. The Old City’s stone buildings and narrow cobblestone streets make you feel as though you’re wandering somewhere in Europe.
“Everything from the dramatic Piton Mountains in the west to the quintessentially Caribbean white sand beaches by luxury resorts makes the island of St. Lucia scream romance,” said Fort Worth, Texas-based Travel Leaders travel agent Sandy Duvall. “If you’d like a more secluded getaway, there are fabulous resorts all over St. Lucia’s eastern coast. Nothing beats a tropical getaway.”
If mystery and intrigue entice you on a vacation, along with infinity pools, tropical landscapes and turquoise waters, then you’ll love Indonesia. Magical and spiritual, Indonesia maintains its culture and unspoilt beaches. Bali’s natural beauty and its selection of great hotels and restaurants make it a perfect place for romance.
Yes we love Paris. But there are other romantic spots in France worth exploring. If you’re looking to wine and dine, there’s really no better place in the world than Bordeaux, France. Enjoy a romantic dinner in French country, where most restaurants are set in 18th-century chateaus.
“You will fall in love all over again as you fall in love with Tahiti and these other awe-inspiring little islands, atolls and motus,” exclaimed Teresa Scannell, a Travel Leaders agent in Mesa, Arizona. “Bora Bora is breathtaking, but if you want to disconnect from the world and focus on each other, then try a hidden gem like Le Tahaa or Vahine Island.”
