Here some fun things to do around Vancouver in June and July 2012:

Vancouver Aquarium:

New penguin exhibit open!

Meet the new African penguins. Come see them at Penguin Point, the new penguin exhibit between Wild Coast and Canada’s Arctic exhibits.

Penguins are birds that do not fly.  Enjoy making penguin-themed crafts and many family activities. Staff and volunteers will be available to answer all of your penguin questions!

Greater Vancouver Zoo:

For this year are: July 7th, July 21st, August 11th and August 25th, the Zoo is offering a special evening for you and your family to experience sleeping overnight at the Zoo in the picnic area right next to where the night animals live!

Once night falls, the guides and volunteers will take you on a walking journey through the Zoo to see the animals. This night also includes hot chocolate and marshmallows while listening to stories, play games and/or sing songs (guitars are even welcome).

You might not get much sleep as you will hear the lions roaring and wolves howling. Friendly birds will make sure you are awake in the morning!

After breakfast (provided), you will meet a Zookeeper.  You will enjoy a narrated train ride around the perimeter of the zoo as well.

Italian Heritage Month (June):

Vancouver kicks off the summer season with Italian Day on Commercial Drive, a day of free fun with Italian food, fashion, entertainment, games, and Euro Cup 2012 festivities that will be a fun street fair for all ages.

Commercial Drive (once known as Little Italy) is where you can see and eat in a large number of Italian restaurants and delis.
