When I was a kid, my best friend was Michelle B. who lived just a few houses down the street from me. We didn’t have many toys to play with but our favourite thing to do was play Barbies.

When my brother and cousin weren’t pulling off my Barbies’ clothes and hanging them by drop-down basement ceiling while I watched in horror, I’d play with them for hours.

Other than my precious Barbies and hunky Ken, Michelle and I would play with the dirt. We’d hang out in her garage, make hamburger patties from the mud and play restaurant.

At home, my dad built me a chalkboard and hung it up in my little playroom, which was a tiny little nook under the stairs in the basement. I’d pretend to be a teacher or librarian.

When my cousins would come over, my brother and sister would hang blankets from the ceiling and we’d take turns performing skits like on The Gong Show. I would, on occasion, bust out my moves like a Solid Gold dancer.

We didn’t have much growing up but boy did we use our imaginations!

Today I have two beautiful boys and they have every toy a kid could ever want. Big toys, little toys, useful toys, useless toys, educational toys, ride-on toys, blow-up toys, action figure toys, licensed tv and movie toys, dollar-store toys, expensive toys. With so much to choose from, there is just way too much!

The Barbie dolls I cherished were MY all-time favourite. What was YOUR favourite childhood toy?

Mine is not a toy, it is roller skates. I remember how excited I was. I laced them up right away and roller skated up the street to my friend Lisa's house. It was a really mild winter that year and there was no snow on the road.

  3. I Loved barbies. But I also LOVED board games, I remember playing all kinds of board games with my family.

  4. I wasn't much of a "barbie girl" I played with the trucks in the dirt and mud. Had bike races with the other guys. I was always taller than them so I would win foot races all the time. LOL One of my favorite toys had to be Lite Bright, would play with that for hours.

My favourite toy as a kid was Mr. Mouth. Every time I popped one of those coloured chips in his mouth I felt like I was the smartest kid ever. (Mmmm. Did someone just say CHIPS.)

    Hope I win!!!

My favorite toy as a child was my Masters of the Universe action figures(He-Man)I would play with them for hours with my friends in my grandmothers front yard just like in the commercials.

  12. I had a lot of toys, but for some reason most fell by the wayside and out of memory. But, oh, did I love my stuffed animals when I was little. I always had favourites, named them, played with them, slept with them. They were the things I kept for years. In my memory box now? Just a few books.
Cute trike, and great giveaway! Thanks for the heads up!

  13. my fave was also rollerskates. Any time I tried to 'run away' from home, my mom was sure to pack my rollerskates…they were heavy white boots and she knew I couldn't go far with a heavy bag!

My dad used to put saddlesoap on them for me…to keep them nice and supple…I miss those skates!

  14. My favorite toy was a doll I called baby, my mom saved it and when I look at it now it still makes me want to kiss it. For some reason the smell of the plastic face brings back memories. Weird? yes.. Oh well, that was my favorite toy!
    thanks,
