More than 4 million Canadians don’t know where their next meal is coming from, according to the 2014 Food Banks Canada Donor Impact Report. That’s a staggering number.

From November 19 through to December 23, McCain Foods is donating $5 to Food Banks Canada, up to $50,000 for every good news story shared using #McCainShareGood on Twitter or by tagging the McCain Foods Canada Facebook page.

Do you have some good news to share?

I do! Thank you to the young man in front of me at the drive-through who paid for my coffee, along with the three vehicles behind me! Put such a small on my face and was a touching surprise. Even a small act of kindness can brighten your day and is worth sharing!

Share your good news story on Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #McCainShareGood and/or tagging the McCain Foods page on Facebook and $5 will be donated to Food Banks Canada. Share a good news and help the hungry – that’s something good to feel about!

  1. I want to thank the police officer and gentleman who pulled over to help push our car up the hill during that bad snow storm earlier last week. It restored my belief that there are still kind people out there willing to help those in need.

I was in a car accident a while ago and some people randomly stopped and picked us up and took us to where we could use a phone.

  3. I had someone pay for my coffee and muffin the other day when I went through the drive through, made me feel really good so I paid for the order in the car behind me.

  4. I was riding the bus to work when a couple of young kids got on aboard. They asked to ride the bus but were short of change. The driver told them to get on but looked displeased. I went over to the driver and dropped some change into the fare box for the kids, The kids said thank you and the driver smiled.

  5. My daughter is 6 and I took her to swimming lessons on the weekend, after in the change room there was a mom with her baby who was in moms&tots swimming. The baby was too small to sit on his own so I asked if she wanted me to hold him while she got dressed (it’s an older rec centre so it has no baby seats). She looked very relieved and said yes and thank you. A few hours later my daughter said to me out of the blue “that was really nice of you to hold the baby”.

    • Sweet! Small acts of kindness are so appreciated, especially as a new mom.

  6. While at the hospital the other day I picked some empty coffee cups out of the bin for used batteries. Felt good to clean it up and the person in the waiting area commented kindly.

  7. My good news story is a little act of kindness; I work in therapy in hospital with people who have broken bones (majority seniors) in accidents – majority come in suddenly so have no time to bring personal belongings, etc and often have no one to bring items in for them.. I bought a bag of combs to keep in our therapy department; sometimes something as simple as giving someone a little comb to doll themselves up a little can brighten their entire day 🙂

  8. The new rafflecopter form wont let me put in my correct FB name – should be Suzanne Kristy

  9. My son and I shoveled my neighbour’s walk the other day when it was really cold and had snowed a lot. She works long hours and I’m sure she’s tired when she gets home. She happened to come home just as we were finishing and the smile on her face made my freezing cold feet worthwhile!

  10. Someone paid for our coffee at Tim Horton’s (we were in the drive thru) so we returned the favour and paid for the coffee for the car behind us.

my good news story is, well this happened about 20 years ago I was told after a back injury that I would never walk again, but I proved them wrong and I can walk, I am not the fastest but as least I can walk

I am a first time Nana! My daughter & family are coming up for the Holidays!

  13. The debit machine at the Safeway was down, and the little old lady couldn’t pay for her milk and bread. I had cash on me so I took care of her tab.

  14. Post your story on Facebook or Twitter with #McCainShareGood so it’s counted as a $5 donation to Food Banks Canada!
