The men in black are back again!
The third film opened this weekend starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin and directed by Barry Sonnefeld.
In Men in Black III, Agent J travels in time to MIB’s early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history.
The film is not perfect which isn’t surprising considering the horrible stories that production started without a fully developed script. The film could be funnier and could have used a much better script but what they ended up with kept me entertained.
Will Smith was his usual charming self. Much of the film’s appeal is simply Smith being such a naturally likeable person. Thank goodness Tommy Lee Jones was not used much in the film since whenever he was on the screen, he looked scared and confused the entire time, even after the conflict was over.
The real star of the film was Josh Brolin who plays as younger Agent K. Brolin did an excellent job at mimicking Lee Jones from accent to performance. The villain, Boris (played by Jemaine Clement) is truly an evil alien especially as the film gets into the full swing of thing.
The film is nowhere nearly as good as the first MIB but it is a huge improvement from the second movie. If you decide to watch MIB III, go into wanting to enjoy it – it’s one of those movies that you have to just learn to accept even with all its flaws.
