Winter has finally arrived in Quebec City and one thing we know how to do when the snow is falling is have fun! I can’t think of a city that does holiday time and winter better.
From whole resorts dedicated to fun in the white stuff, to beautiful lights in Old Quebec there is something for everyone to enjoy. Holiday time in Quebec City is magical and there are so many things to do in Quebec City in December.
There are a host of events during the Christmas season including a Traditional German Christmas market held outdoors.
The German Christmas market
The German Christmas market is a must see! Vendors sell a variety of local products as well as a variety of products made and imported from Germany just for the holidays. Pick up a mug of mulled wine, grilled sausages or simply stroll through the quaint wooden booths and soak up the spirit of the season. At the Marché du Vieux-Port de Québec there is also a Signature Market.
Visit the German Christmas Market to find out this year’s dates.

QuébecAdabra
In late December and into January experience the beauty and old world charm of Old Quebec all decked out for the holidays. They call it QuébecAdabra and it really is magic as the old neighborhood dons lights and decorations as well as play host to an exclusive architectural projection called Fantasmagorie.
In early December, the famous Basilique Notre-Dame de Québec presents a Christmas Concert performed by the Regimental Band of the Voltigeurs de Québec , under the direction of Captain François Dorion.
Festi Lumière
The Québec Aquarium is also getting all decked out for the season with its annual Festi Lumière. With over 400,000 lights, inflatables, as well as all the aquatic animals it`s sure to entertain both young and old alike. Visit the website for hours and fees.
Grande Allée
Last but not least, kick off the New Year in style at the Grande Allée. With light shows, musicians as well as an urban fireworks display, New Year’s Eve in Old Quebec is sure to light a spark in you for the new year. While there enjoy a ride on the Ferris wheel, check out the local merchants or have a hot cocoa on a heated patio.
