Don’t Stop Believin’!

That’s what Elicia MacKenzie and Yvan Pedneault probably thought when they scored the leads as Maria in The Sound of Music and Galileo in We Will Rock You.

Now they play star-crossed lovers Sherrie and Drew in the Toronto production of Broadway hit Rock of Ages, which had its premiere last night at the Royal Alexandra theatre.

In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl meets a big city rocker and in LA’s most famous rock club, they fall in love to the greatest songs of the 80s.  Rock of Ages is a musical comedy and a love story told through the most memorable hits of Journey, Whitesnake, Twisted Sister and many more.

A truly wonderful and talented cast includes Peter Deiwick as the sexy and glam rocker Stacee Jaxx, and Aaron Walpole as Lonny, the hilarious narrator and scene-stealer.  Pedneault’s voice is incredible, a true Canadian talent.

If you loved 80s rock, you will be singing along throughout the entire show.  Even if you weren’t a huge 80s rock fan, you’ll still be entertained by the powerful ballads and rockin’ tunes.  You’ll also be laughing out loud at the clever dialogue.

This is the type of musical that you can bring your boyfriend or husband to see. Why you ask?  Not only will they rock alongside you, they will also be delighted by the attractive female cast who pranced around the stage in garters and fishnet stockings.

The best part – drinking beer during the show and holding up the LED lighters I bought at the theatre (two for a buck).  You’ll need them for powerful ballads like Warrant’s “Heaven” and Journey’s “Oh Sherry”.

Bust out the acid-washed tight jeans and tease out your hair because you will rock the night away!
