Learning to bathe your baby can be a daunting. While you’re getting more comfortable with your baby, there’s a lot to juggle during bath time and of course you want to keep your little one safe. But as long you’re properly prepared, bath time can be a great bonding experience and a whole lot of fun!

Disney Baby has some great tips for bathing your baby, how to protect and pamper your little one in the tub, and some adorable products to help you to do it! From towels and toys to cleansers and creams, Disney Baby has you covered.

Here are 5 tips for bathing your baby:

1. Start small

Your baby is little and his or her bathtub should be too! When you start bathing a baby, it’s easier to do it in the sink, or using a small plastic tub. That way, you won’t have to kneel or lean awkwardly over the side of a big bath while keeping your baby upright. Some baby tubs, like this adorable Winnie the Pooh one, feature built-in toys, ensuring that bath time is fun for everyone!

2. Get some tub toys

For older babies, the bath can be a great place to learn and explore. Once your little one has graduated to a big tub, introduce them to some squirt toys, fun floaties or sponges. Disney Baby has a great selection of these, featuring characters like Nemo and Friends. Toys can keep your baby distracted and happy, helping make bath time a breeze.

3. Ditch the daily dips

Babies don’t need to bathe everyday – in fact, daily baths can dry out or damage your little one’s skin. It only takes two or three baths a week to ensure that baby stays squeaky-clean, as long as you stay vigilant about keeping face, hands and diaper area clean between washes. These Finding Nemo washcloths are the perfect way to keep baby fresh between bath times.

4. Lock in that moisture

If your baby does have dry skin, rub on a little moisturizing lotion, cream or oil post bath. There are plenty of products out there that both you and your baby can use!

5. Keep baby warm

Wet babies can become easily chilled, so throughout bath time it’s important to keep your little one warm. Ensure that bath water is around 37 degrees and that the air in the bathroom is comfortably warm as well. After the bath, wrap baby up in a soft, clean towel and give him a little snuggle! A Winnie the Pooh Bathtime Wrap keeps baby feeling cozy and looking cute.

my husband and I were SOOOO nervous giving a bath to our daughter. Her being so tiny and us being first time parents we were scared doing it but after a couple of times it became easier for us. Try doing it together…I found it makes it so much easier 🙂

  2. Make sure you get everything you need ready for the bath before starting to make it a relaxing experience for both you and baby.

  3. have a bottle ready incase baby gets upset, also work as a team makes it easier

  4. Make sure everything is ready, makes everything much easier, and I remember my first time bathing my daughter I was so nervous and shaky

  5. Make sure everything is handy! I had my mother give my son his first bath and my daughter too! I was to nervous!

Keep the paci close. and diaper quickly!!!

My first time was hysterical.. she pee’d and poo’d lol

  8. I used to use the sink so I didn’t have to lean down. So much easier!

  9. I confess I bathed my baby every day, it was one thing she actually enjoyed (she was fussy.. still is!) My tip is keep the electronics away from the bath!

  10. The bathwater should be comfortably warm (test it with your wrist or the inside of your elbow to make sure it’s not too hot). Just because it may feel right for us, it needs to be cooler for them. I was a wreck for the first one, and I look back and shake my head that I shouldn’t have been…live and learn…:)

  11. Make sure you have everything ready and the sink is easier to bathe baby sometimes!

  12. My first bath with baby was easy, I had nurses help in hospital because my boys were there for 2 weeks when they were born (preemies)

  13. It was a little scary at first , but just keep calm and have fun with it 🙂

Don’t bath baby everyday so hard on their fragile skin. You can sponge bath in between bath.

My bath time tip is not to bathe your young baby too often – daily can be too much for their sensitive skin. Our doctor recommended only a couple of times a week to start. As for our baby’s first bath, she cried the whole time, but the nurses in the hospital woke us all up at 3am for her first bath and she was all curled up warm, cozy and sleeping so I could see why she would not be happy! I wasn’t happy about it either…

  18. My tip is to have everything ready and at arms reach, like diaper and towel.

  19. make double sure water is right temperature, have everything nearby. ours loved bath right from beginning, we tended to use the sink in the early months.

I tried to bath the baby with my husband helping until I was more comfortable. Just have all your supplies at hand before you put baby in!

My first time bathing baby was nerve wracking. I was so nervous that I was going to break him.. lol

  22. The bathwater should be comfortably warm. Make sure everything is close by and remember to put your elbow in the water to test it.
