Listen up regular folks. Beyonce Knowles’ and Jay-Z’s one-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter is a smarty pants.

“She is hilarious and she is fire. Lord, am I going to have me a time!” Knowles told Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter.

“She’s very smart. She’s already reading flashcards. She’s beautiful.”

A few tabloid magazines are turning up the snark by pointing out one little bit of Beyonce’s interview and calling her daughter a genius. I don’t know what’s more annoying — that Beyonce is actually saying her 13-month-old daughter is reading flashcards, or that Us Magazine and USA Today are saying she’s a brainiac?

One article says that Beyonce and Jay-Z are raising a prodigy. Is that being too snarky?

“My daughter introduced me to myself,” she told Oprah on the Feb. 16th episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter. “Motherhood made everything make sense.”

Now this is a very true statement that we can all agree on.

During the interview, Beyonce spoke about the miscarriage she suffered before conceiving Blue Ivy.

“I felt like there are so many couples that go through that and it was a big part of my story. It was one of the hardest things I’ve been through. It was one of the reasons I did not reveal that I was pregnant the second time,” she said. “You don’t know what’s going to happen. It was hard.”

Will she and Jay-Z have more kids?

“I definitely want to have another child. But it’s also important for me to do what I love. I love to make music. I wanted to see after I had my daughter, if I was still as passionate about performing,” she said. “Maybe after this next tour I’ll have another.”

Are the tabs being too harsh as usual, or is Beyonce bragging about her child?

  1. Lets’ be real, what mother doesn’t brag about her kid(s). She is just being a normal parent, and really I am not sure why the world is making a big deal out of it.
It’s not like she’s gonna say, “Oh My Blue is going to grow up to be a stripper. She shows no signs of talking, walking or interest in anything other than staring at the wall.”
Yeah, you’re not gonna hear that even if it was true. (Which it’s not. But who cares?!)
