Having my boys home during the summer is wonderful yet chaotic. When they get along, they are best friends and brothers with so much love. But when they argue, they get nasty. They will bicker, taunt one another and then they start to get physical. How many time outs and fight break-ups have you had to endure this past summer?

Well the back to school countdown is on! The kids are going back to school, baby! I’m going to take a deep breath as I send them off on their first day of school. And then…
When the kids are back in school, I’m going to…

Sit and enjoy the silence. I’ve been hearing the noises of whining, complaining, Minecraft music, Geometry Dash techno/electronic music all summer long. And then when it gets too quiet…

Dance around the house with MY music blasted. I’ve had to listen to my kids’ tween Disney XD shows and Everything Is Awesome much more than usual, I thought my head would explode.

Enjoy a full cup of coffee without interruption.

Lay on the couch all by myself.

Take the longest bath ever.

Get my hair done! I haven’t had a hair cut in months.

Get a proper manicure and pedicure. My toes look like claws and my cuticles have taken over half of my toe nail. Not a pretty sight.

Haul my ass back to the gym. My body is soft and lumpy, need to tone up!

Make an appointment for a massage. That gift certificate I got for my birthday last year is still sitting on my dresser. About time I use it.

Print some photos. I have thousands upon thousands of photos that need to be uploaded, organized and printed.

Meet up with friends for coffee or lunch.

Go shopping! I need some fall clothing and I haven’t had a chance to shop for myself.

Take a long leisurely stroll in my fave neighbourhoods. I haven’t been able to window shop along Queen West, Bloor or Yorkville without being yanked away by a cute yet strong little hand.

Catch up on shows like True Detective and Ray Donovan during the day because the characters can cuss and swear and I don’t have to worry about keeping my finger on the mute button….

while eating a pint of coconut ice cream. And I won’t have to share.

Finally, I’m going to have enough time to recoup and miss my kids!

What, did you think I was that heartless?!

Snap back to reality and realize that work is still waiting for me, along with endless piles of laundry.
