Ready in 20 minutes, anyone can cook up this easy yet delicious tomato sauce.  Mama Maria’s recipe!

½ large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, finely minced
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 jar puréed tomatoes (plain)
2 leaves fresh basil
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
Dash black pepper

In pot, sautée onion in olive oil until slightly golden brown.  Add garlic for 60 seconds.  Add tomato purée.  Stir.  Add salt, pepper, sugar.  Bring to a slight boil.  Lower temperature to medium, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.  Lower temperature to low/medium and add fresh basil leaves.  Simmer until ready to eat. (If you want, at this point add the cooked ground beef).
