Leslie Carter Drug Overdose: Prescription Drug Abuse Problem Rising
A police report indicates that Leslie Carter suffered a drug overdose although nothing has been confirmed yet.
Authorities reportedly found at least three drugs – Olanzapine, Cyclobenzaprine and Xanax – near Carter who died in upstate New York on Tuesday. She was 25.
The prescription medications listed in the police report treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and anxiety. An official cause of death is still pending a completion of toxicology.
Ginger Carter, her stepmother, told police that Leslie had suffered “a long history of mental illness and was on medication for her depression” and that she had seemed particularly distressed the morning of her death.
Nick and Aaron Carter’s sister was an aspiring singer whose song “Like Wow!” appeared on the Shrek soundtrack and appeared on the “House of Carters” reality television show.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has labeled this emerging form of drug abuse a “national epidemic.” Prescription drugs are the cause of more deaths by overdose than “street drugs” such as cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine.
A recent CDC study found that in 2009, more Americans died from prescription drugs than motor vehicle accidents.
The 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health found that about seven million people regularly use prescription drugs for non-medical purposes.
Prescription medications for pain and anxiety are particularly potent and highly addictive, and they can be lethal if combined with alcohol or other narcotics. A recent government report said painkiller deaths more than tripled in the past decade.
What is extremely troubling is that the abuse is particularly prevalent among teenagers. The CDC reports that one in five high school students school has taken a prescription drug without a doctor’s prescription.
What is more disturbing is that many teens are getting these drugs from friends and family; an important discussion for parents to have with their teenagers.

Emily Maynard is Scared to be The Next Bachelorette
Emily Maynard is the next new Bachelorette and she is nervous as hell!
Shooting for the new season of The Bachelorette begins next month. But Maynard, a single mom of one, is getting cold feet.
“It really hasn’t hit me, what I’ve signed on to do,” Maynard, 25, told People. “I’m scared to death.”
So why is she going to do it? She shied away from the limelight when she was dating the Bachelor’s Brad Womack. She seemed to dislike the tabloids after the show ended and she and Brad were engaged, and then even more so when their engagement ended.
Maynard had said she had no intentions of ever being the next Bachelorette.
Well that didn’t last long!
“I genuinely meant that,” Maynard says. “I feel like the biggest hypocrite because I said that and now I’m doing it.”
So what changed her mind?
“I know it can work,” Maynard says. “I fell in love the first time and no, we didn’t end up getting married, but in the end just falling in love, for me, is a success.”
This time, rather than filming the show in Los Angeles, the new bachelorette will stay in Charlotte, N.C., where she lives with her six-year-old daughter, Ricki.
When the show travels to other locations, Ricki will also tag along. But will she be meeting with any of the bachelors?
“She’s not going to be involved in a lot of filming and certainly not meeting the guys,” Maynard says. “But she’s really excited to go on vacation with Mommy.”
Why not just go out on a normal date with a guy from her town? Wouldn’t that be the best thing to do for her daughter’s sake? One day she will be able to watch the footage from the show… and see her mom share intimate moments with quite a few men. Creepy?
“My schedule is very different than a normal single guy’s schedule. I can’t go out every night of the week,” she says.
“They just kind of fizz out before they ever have a chance to become anything. I have to take things slowly because I have a daughter, so that makes it really hard.”
And dating publicly on television will be much easier.

What is going on with Demi Moore?
First she and Ashton Kutcher split. Then she collapsed and went to the hospital for exhaustion and overall health.
Now, she’s being replaced in the upcoming Lovelace – Sarah Jessica Parker will be playing feminist icon Gloria Steinem instead.
The 911 call which was made when Moore collapsed at her home on Monday night, has just been released. She had a seizure after taking the prescription drug Adderall when the emergency call was placed. Mooer’s daughter, Rumer, was likely with her at the time.
Moore’s friend described her dire condition to the 9-1-1 operator:
“She smoked something, it’s not marijuana, it’s similar to incense. She seems to be having convulsions.”
Hmm… could this really be? No use in speculating but something doesn’t add up.
The friend then said Moore had been struggling recently, according to RadarOnline.com.
“She’s been having some issues lately so I don’t know what she’s been taking and not telling us.”
Um, yeah! You know there must be more to it…
Moore, 49, recently split from her younger husband Kutcher… who cheated on her repeatedly, prompting her to post revealing photos of herself to almost try and prove she is still young and sexy.
There has got to be some issues going on there, understandably!
Let’s cut her some slack and hope she recovers soon.
Update February 4, 2012: Sources report that Moore entered rehab for an eating disorder and addiction issues.
Celeb Baby News: Kristin Cavallari is Pregnant!
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are expecting their first child.
Cavallari, 25, and Cutler, 27, announced their baby news to People magazine.
“We are thrilled to announce we are expecting our first child together,” they said.
“It’s an amazing time in our life and we can’t wait to meet the new addition to our growing family.”
When will we hear wedding bells?
Cutler and Cavallari both tweeted about the news, with Cutler putting some old rumors to rest.
Cutler tweeted:
“Thanks for all the tweets. We couldn’t be more excited. We don’t usually comment on our relationship but for the record I never broke up with Kristin. Its unfortunate some people are saying hurtful things during such a joyous moment in our life.”
The former Hills star and Dancing with the Stars alumni and the Chicago Bears quarterback had reportedly broke off their engagement in July 2011 but got back together in November.
Cavallari tweeted:
“I tweeted that I had margaritas a few weeks ago to throw ppl off cuz I had gotten a couple tweets about my pregnancy. I didn’t really drink!”
Congrats to them!
Heidi Klum and Seal to Divorce
TMZ is reporting that Heidi Klum will file for divorce from Seal. Can this be true???
I’m hoping it’s just a really awful rumor.
TMZ writes:
“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Heidi will file divorce papers in L.A. County Superior Court as early as next week. We’re told Heidi will cite ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the cause for the divorce.”
How do these sources know for certain?
I hope it isn’t true – this awesome pair have four children together; three biological kids (Henry, 6, Johan, 5, Lou, 2) and Heidi’s eldest daughter from a previous relationship (Leni, 7).
The couple married in May 10, 2005 and have been renewing their vows every year on their anniversary.
Is marriage in Hollywood impossible?
I think so!
Let’s wait and see if TMZ’s sources are false… although they are usually right with their sources.

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.
“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.
“We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

Last year I made a Best Movies of 2010 list and seeing how 2011 delivered some amazing films, I just had to do it again!
Whether they had more hype than others, were under rated or received bad reviews, these movies all earned their title as best in my books for one reason or another. So what were the best movies of 2011?
Without further ado, here is my list of the Best 15 Movies of 2011.
Attack the Block (Sci-fi/Action/Comedy)
Starring: John Boyega, Jodie Whittaker and Alex Esmail
Director: Joe Cornish
Amazing indie British Sci-fi/comedy like you’ve never seen it before. This movie is REALLY good. I mean it. It’s hilarious, the aliens are really cool, the story actually works and you wont even notice the fact that it was made on the low budget. I loved watching these kids go around kicking butt and I was happily surprised to see a genuienly good sci-fi/action/comedy.
Beginners (Drama/Comedy/Romance)
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Mélanie Laurent
Director: Mike Millis
This little movie came out of no where and stole my heart. I was crying and then laughing my face off. I loved the story and feel in love with the actors that made it come to life. Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer are wonderful. This movie snuck in there and I keep hearing little blurbs about it now and again which is good because this film deserves to be recognized.
Drive (Crime/Drama)
Starring: Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan
Director: Nicolas Winding Refn
Ryan Gosling is such a good actor. If that wasn’t reason alone then the action and general feel to this movie should give you reason to watch it. It was cool. I hate to say that but it’s true.
Fast Five (Action/Crime)
Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson
Director: Justin Lin
Action. This movie is a pure action flick. There are one liners that will make you face palm but compared to all the other Fast & the Furious movies this script works. Raw action with fight scenes between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson is action gold and makes this my favourite of the fast & the Furious films.
Fright Night (Horror/Comedy)
Starring: Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and David Tennant
Director: Craig Gillespie
Why is this film on my list? Because this was my favoruite horror/comedy of the year. Not only is David Tennant and Anton Yelchin two of my favourite actors but I love the original and wondered if they were going to butcher it or not. They didn’t, they made it fresh and new and I loved every minute of this movie.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have welcomed their first child – a baby girl!
The 30-year-old singer gave birth to Ivy Blue Carter, E! Online reports.
Beyoncé gave birth via scheduled caesarean section at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City Saturday night.
Sources close to the hospital told the Daily News that Beyoncé checked into New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital under a fake name, “Ingrid Jackson”.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé reportedly rented out the entire fourth floor of the hospital for $1.3 million to have a private delivery! If this is true, all I can say is – wow… that money could go to something a little more useful, like helping people?
That aside, congrats to the couple.
Hollywood Engagement News: Jessica and Justin, Drew and Will
Along with the sleigh bells ringing this past Christmas, the wedding bells were ringing as well!
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman are engaged to be married. Kopelman, an art consultant, popped the question to the actress over the holidays Sun Valley, Idaho, reports Us Weekly.
The couple have been dating for about a year. Kopelman is the son of former Chanel boss Arie Kopelman.
This will be the third marriage for Barrymore who was once married to bar owner Jeremy Thomas in 1994 and Tom Green in 2001.
Drew Barrymore
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are also engaged! Justin Timberlake’s grandmother has confirmed the engagement to RadarOnline.
Sadie Bomar, gave her blessing to the couple’s wedding as she confirmed the pair are set to be married.
“Yes, Justin is engaged,” Bomar told Radar Online. “Jessica is a very sweet girl, she’s upright and everything and we love her.”
“She’s a wonderful campaigner for the environment and Justin is too, a fine young man. Jessica will be a lovely member of the family.”
The couple tied the knot in Big Sky, Montana where Timberlake has a home. According to a source, Justin proposed with a “custom-designed” ring.
The Hollywood couple first started dating in January 2007 at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. They’ve been on again off again in 2011 but I guess Timberlake decided that Biel was “the one”.
Congrats to both couples!
Nick Cannon in Hospital for Kidney Failure
Nick Cannon is in the hospital for kidney failure.
The America’s Got Talent’s wife, singer Mariah Carey posted an update on Twitter:
Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure. #mybraveman
Carey also spoke to People.com, saying:
“As always, he’s in good spirits considering the situation. We are hopeful that he’ll be 100 percent as soon as possible.”
Why Cannon went into kidney failure is still unknown. But Carey said that “the situation is not easy” and that Cannon is stable but “in a lot of pain.”
“We really appreciate everybody’s love and support,” she continued.
Cannon tweeted:
Currently being transfered to a hospital in LA. Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me… I will be a’ight
The super couple, along with their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, were on vacation in Colorado when Cannon was hospitalized.
We wish him a speedy recovery!
